Fostering green social innovation and social entrepreneurship in school education

The INITIATION project aims to cultivate the social innovation and social entrepreneurship mind-set of high schools and their motivation to become more community oriented and be actively involved in designing solutions for environmental problems that their local societies are facing. Thus, high school students and teachers are the main beneficiaries of the project.

G4E (Geeks for Education)

We jokingly call them “geeks”, sometimes “nerds”. In the popular “Big Bang Theory” TV show they are portraited as super-smart scientists who possess technical and scientific knowledge and skills to ride the digital and technological revolution, but lack social and communication skills to transfer their knowledge. In real life, these professionals, working in education, or in innovation hubs such as FabLabs, are a great knowledge asset to capitalize if we want to increase the number and variety of learners to become aware, acquainted and proficient in STEM and digital skills, as key skills for future occupations but more generally social and life purposes.

European herItage 3D gamEs platform for teaching mAths (IDEA)

IDEA project is a two-year Erasmus+ project, running from October 2019 to September 2021, aimed to address underachievement in the basic skills of maths, covering maths material of the first 3 grades of primary school. The project will be based on cartoon 3D environments representing selected cultural routes, one in each participating country. In these environments, with the help of different math puzzles the students will be able to interact with the 3D objects solving these puzzles and getting points, rewards and badges.

European Grid Initiative: Integrated Sustainable Pan-European Infrastructure for Researchers in Europe (EGI-InSPIRE)

The EGI-InSPIRE project will support the transition from a project-based system to a sustainable pan-European e-Infrastructure, by supporting “grids” of high-performance computing (HPC) and high-throughput computing (HTC) resources.

European Middleware Initiative (EMI)

The EMI brings together the major European middleware providers to deliver a consolidated set of services to provide the European and global research communities with unprecedented computing power.

Governments ENabled with IPv6 (GEN6)

GEN6 shares the view that a democratic European society, with a strong and productive economy, requires service-oriented, secure, reliable and innovative government, at all levels independently of size and location used by all groups of citizens (elder, handicapped, youngsters, immigrants).

Optical Performance Monitoring Enabling Dynamic Networks Using A Holistic Cross-Layer, Self-Configurable Truly Flexible Approach (ORCHESTRA)

The vision of the ORCHESTRA project is to close the loop between the physical layer and the network control plane, by using information provided by the coherent transceivers that can be extended, almost for free, to operate as software-defined optical performance monitors (softOPMs).

Virtual Microgrids for Smart Energy Networks (VIMSEN)

The subsidy feed in tariff policy, which has been recently adopted for accelerating renewable energy investments, cannot be retained as a sustainable business model for the future smart energy grid.
